European Trophy Junior Tournament
The European Trophy Junior Tournament will be played in Karlstad, Sweden, August 19-22.
- This will be one of the best junior tournaments in Europe, says European Trophy Tournament Director Bo "Kulon" Lennartsson.
Ten teams from five nations will participate in the tournament, which is a development of the Nordic Trophy Junior Tournament, a junior tournament that was played 2007 to 2009 with teams from Sweden and Finland.
Färjestad are title holders from last year's Nordic Trophy Junior Tournament, and will do their best to defend their title in front of the home crowd. But they face fierce competition in the CCM division from HV71 (Sweden), Malmö Redhawks (Sweden), Red Bull Salzburg (Austria) and HIFK (Finland).
In the Reebok division, Norway's U20 national team is an interesting participant. How will the Norwegian national team handle the competition from the Czech team HC Energie Karlovy Vary and the Swedish teams Djurgården, Linköping and Frölunda?
- Junior hockey is getting more and more attention from the fans and the media all around Europe. The teams that are participating in the European Trophy Junior Tournament are playing at the highest level of junior hockey in Europe, and I'm sure that there will be lots of great games for the fans to watch, says Bo "Kulon" Lennartsson.
